First off I would like to thank you in advance for taking to time to come to my fund raising page for this year's Marine Corps Marathon. I am a United States Marine on active duty who has served the last 13 years both honorably and faithfully to our nation. As many of you may know in the past I have raised funds through TEAM TAPS in honor of fallen service members and their families. This year though I am trying to raise funds and support someone who is just as deserving. I am running this marathon on October 28, 2012 in memory of Tara Hansen. Tara passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Monmouth Medical Center. She was only 29 years of age. Tara attended Freehold Borough High School and was also a graduate from Kean University. Tara was a wonderful woman who dedicated her short life in the support of others as a special education teacher at West Freehold Elementary School. Tara was strong, caring and inspirational, and always lived her life with a spirit and passion for the betterment of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her profession said a lot about the person she was. Every child that passed through her classroom door left not only a better student, but also a better person.
Tara and her husband Ryan welcomed their first child, Brandon Ryan Hansen, into their family and sadly Tara was taken from this world due to complications with the birth of their loving son. It is an honor to be able to help raise funds for the future education and development of Brandon as I know that Tara would only have been able to give nothing but love, affection, strength, and dedication. All funds Raised will go to The Tara Hansen Foundation in her memory. Please support me in my goal to raise the funds that can help support a cause that I hold near and dear to my own heart. I would like to thank the Hansen family for allowing me to do this run in Tara's memory and the opportunity to give something back to someone who never hesitated to give her all to those in need. May her light shine down upon us that day as the 26.2 miles come to an end, yet only to know that Brandon's journey through life has only just begun.
